Music education is critical to the product development of this nation’s most important resource – our children. - John Sykes
Our music classes provide a fun musical experience for children aged 4 – 6 years. The classes are specifically designed to build musical foundations, grow confidence and prepare children for learning Instruments. Classes focus on key areas of musical development including performing, listening and responding, composition, playing percussion instruments and music literacy.
Children usually spend a year in this pre-instrumental music programme, until they are ready to begin learning their chosen instrument.
“I love music because we learn new things every week. It is so fun to play an instrument and music lessons are so good for you. I feel really safe here.” (Student)

“My daughter started out with Expand when it first began two years ago in the pre-instrumental music class. Through this she learned an invaluable insight into music. This gave her a great basis to move onto playing an instrument. Her chosen instrument was the drums. Having been born with only one arm, learning an instrument was not as straight forward as for others. But her drum teacher, John Reid, was so enthusiastic to teach her and encouraged her so much before she even began by researching one-armed drummers and showing her that anything was possible. John has been such an inspiration to my daughter and she has progressed to a level on drums we could never have expected in such a short time. She really looks forward to her lessons each week and would not object to having lessons several times a week! She loves music so much now. Expand School of Music is run by an extremely talented and dedicated team of people. Thank you.” (Parent)

“Expand School of Music has built my children’s confidence so much as they learn to play and perform. My two boys love going to lessons and love their teachers. As a parent, I love that there is no ‘fixed’ programme that my boys have to fit into. Instead, thy are allowed to learn and develop at a pace that suits them, and they are encouraged and challenged all the way. Thank you Expand!” (Parent)
